In uncertain times such as these, a splash of serenity can soothe the mind, body, and soul. Once the site of a grand casino, Radium Springs Gardens gives visitors a chance to sightsee and be at ease. No wonder it’s one of Georgia’s seven natural wonders!
About the Gardens
The beautiful Radium Springs Gardens has a rich history, spanning multiple cultures. American Indians regarded the site as holy and ceremonial, naming it Skywater. Later on, Radium Springs was called Blue Springs, due to its enchanting blue hue. In the 1920s, researchers discovered radium in the springs, which became its modern namesake.
Once the discovery of radium was made, a new era was ushered into the springs. A resort and casino soon stood on the site, though its last vestiges were removed in 2003 because of damage. While there, the Radium Springs Casino served as a social hotspot, boasting a grand dance hall and dining room. Nowadays, visitors can walk about the courtyard, where the casino once was.
Visiting the Gardens
When you visit the Radium Springs Gardens, you can expect verdant knolls, vegetation both domestic and exotic, and clear, peaceful spring waters. It’s a calming experience in our very own backyard.
In addition to the courtyard, you can walk about the grounds and stroll through the sidewalks. As guests of the Radium Springs Gardens, you can gaze at the casino gardens, sightsee from a restored terrace, and recharge under the shady comfort of gazebos.
