Color us happy! Now is the time to make your plans for AMA ChalkFest 2022 on Saturday, November 19th, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in downtown Albany!
5th Annual AMA ChalkFest
This fun festival by the Albany Museum of Art aims to add more color to the streets than the fall leaves add to the trees! AMA ChalkFest 2022 features the work of professional chalk artists, community artists, kids and much more.
This year’s theme is “Heroes,” which is inspired by the Albany Museum of Art’s Fighters for Freedom: William H. Johnson Picturing Justice exhibit. The exhibit is on display now through December 10th.
Chalk artists will create images inspired by famous pop artists that will be at least 50-square-feet. Besides chalk art, there will be live music, games, kids’ activities, food trucks, craft beer and vendors.
More about AMA ChalkFest
New to the free family-friendly festival this year is Chris Johnson, a muralist, printmaker and art professor at Andrew College. You won’t want to miss Johnson using a steamroller to press prints on the street!
Plus, there will be a group of glass blowers on-hand demonstrating their skills too.
What’s more, the kids will be worn out after a full day of fun. Activities include building with big blue blocks, tie-dying T-shirts, face painting, Chehaw Park and Zoo animal demonstrations, art projects, sidewalk chalk and more.
Make your way to the 100 block of South Front Street, next to the Albany Civic Center, to find AMA ChalkFest 2022.
