Possible upgrades for Chehaw Park

According to a recent report, the planned upgrades for Chehaw Park have been a work in progress. A few the improvements include several expansions. First, there is talk of expanding the play park at the front of the park.

Next, there will be expansions to the water park and campground. For the campground, expansion also includes extending campground availability in the hopes of better accommodating out-of-town guests.

Additional planned upgrades for Chehaw Park could include features such as a zip line, for instance. The main goal of the upgrades is to bring new visitors from Southwest Georgia and beyond to the park and Albany in general.

Chehaw Park has three main areas. The Zoo at Chehaw is currently home to more than 200 animals representing more than 73 various species. There are a variety of natural outdoor exhibits featuring animals such as black bears, alligators, black rhinos, cheetahs and more.

The Splash Park features water fun for all ages, and the Play Park is one of the largest in South Georgia. The 800-acre campground is situated among the tall Georgia pines. Currently, there are 40 RV sites, 18 tent sites, plus cabins and primitive campsites too.
